“The Work Of Art That Saves You” reconstructs the quest for a liberation through art, in the form of a never ending procession performed by one individual. It explores the belief in the sacred dimension inherent in art. In times of spiritual emptiness, uncertainty and ambiguity, and in a largely secularized Western world, art appears as the last remaining tool of salvation.
Holding symbolic objects, one after the other, of art and the sacred – a flag, a frame, a wheel, a stick, a ladder – the solitary individual endlessly repeats specific actions.
This procession is an attempt to reach a moment of transcendence, for both the performer and the viewer.
